First tools

At the end of last year, I was befriended by an elderly Japanese couple. When they heard that I was starting leathercraft they told me that they (she) had been quite active making things in leather as long as 50 years ago. Today I was blessed to receive a batch of leather tools and bits and pieces from them to get going. These are things they don't expect to need:

  • some lengths of leather thong
  • a few needles
  • various clasps
  • a hole punch
  • a swivel knife
  • various rivets
  • a 30cm x 50cm piece of tooling leather
